So last week was the begining of my gym's "6 week Body Transformatiom" program, which I joined. The program allows me to work out as much as I want (with no extra fees), and they track weekly measurements, give out meal plans and there's some nutritional info thrown in as well. All that being said, I only went to the gym 3 times, which is my norm. The meal plan emphasized a lean protien, low carb, low sodium, no dairy, veggie heavy diet, which I tried to follow. Thing is, I suck at meal plans, and when it comes to food, I like to follow the beat of my own drum. So I mostly ate lean protien and veggies, but y'know, some cheese did sneak in there, and I cheated A LOT on the weekend. I can't help it (I probably can), but once the weekend rolls around, it's suddenly really hard to say no to carbs. I did only drink 1.5 beers (compared to Boy's 5) on Saturday night, and I managed to mostly avoid bread... by giving it to Boy. I did eat dessert and frankly, I don't feel too much guilt over it. Nor do I feel bad about the Spinach and Cheese Croissant from La Créperie I ate on Sunday... It had spinach! Spinach is healthy!!! (ridiculous amounts of béchemel sauce is not... but it is delicious).
So, more for my sake then your, a list of my cheater foods:
- Half Pint Stongbow (I drank this after running around downtown for 2.5hrs, on a doggie scavenger hunt, so I think it was well deserved... I did cardio dammit!)
- 1 bottle Pumphouse Blueberry Ale... this beer actually taste of blueberries
- Club house sandwich... I only ate half the bread... and picked off *some* of the cheese...and I had a side salad instead of fries.. with dressing on the side... I'm slowing turning into one of the picky eater girls I hate.
- 1/2 Mocha Pot de Crème, this had a layer of chocolate on it instead of a layer of melted sugar (like crème brulée)... it was really good, and I shared it with Boy
- 1/3 of a Cinnamon Bun... I should mention that Boy brought home this monstrosity, baked with love by one of the Spolumbo's Mamas. The damn thing was a size of a pie... I couldn't say no, it was soooo good. I did, however, make Boy promise not to bring home anymore sugary carbs until after we get back from Asia. He then bought bakalava at the Farmer's Market... Jerk
- Chinese Family Dinner... My mom's birthday is this week, and today is the MidAutumn Festival, so my whole family went out for dinner. I can technicaly get out of these dinners, but it looks bad, and I only really get to see my extended family at these events. Besides, the food is delicious and free (since I'm still considered a "kid")
- Lots of Mooncake, did I mention it's the MidAutumn Festival... all you need to know about mooncake is that it's delicious, especially the kind with egg yolks in it. More about MidAutumn Festival here
On the flip side I did eat a lot of fish, eggs, chard, and chickpeas.
So in Conclusion, in one week I lost 1.4lbs... which is average, and I know I can do better...
In somewhat related news, I found a kickstarter project for a pretty cool running app called: Zombies Run!. Basically you run in the real world and the app tracks your time and distance and then awards medicine, supplies and weapons for your in app home base. There are zombie noises.... this may be the only way I'll ever start running.
This week I'm signed up for 5 classes at the gym, and I'm more prepared for healthy eating (there's even a block of tofu in my fridge)... so we'll see how I progress.
