So the sun has been out, I've been eating (relatively) well, drinking ridiculous amounts of water everday (min 4 mugs of tea, often more) and the number on the scale is finally starting to dip lower. It's not a lot, but it's progress and all the life style and eating habits I've made are pretty easy to continue long term. I haven't felt any changes in my size though, which is where it matters most. My clothes feel no looser (yet!) so, while I know I'm on the right track, I've still got a long way to go.
A few changes I've made:
- I take a multivitamin everyday
- I try to drink a litre of water everyday. Unless it's a treat, I try to only have water or tea with my meals
- Eat more fibre and protien, eat less carbs, especially refined grains
- I try not to be so hard on myself when I slip up, some days are good, some days are bad, just roll with it
- I drink a glass of lemon every morning after I wake up
- Eat meat only sporadically
I've been eating a lot of quinoa and chickpeas. I try to eat more vegetables than meat. I get my first CSA box today, so I'm excited to see what crazy greens and veg are to be found within. Starting next week I'm participating in a "Stampede Detox" at my gym. Basically I can take unlimited classes and I get a nutritional consultation with the nutritionist. I'm a little wary about the nutrional consultation because I'm very quick to dimiss advice if it doesn't fit into my life. I can't completely cut out certain foods (pizza, cheese, etc) and when I do, I tend to binge at a later date and it takes me forever to get back on track. But I hope that all the gym classes I can handle for two weeks kick starts a more active me. With a lot of my friends moving away come mid-August, I hope to fill the hole (at least partially) with more active pursuits. The rest of the hole will be filled with wine, whining, bugging Boy, annoying the pug and probably pizza. I'm also restarting Pole classes again today, mostly to see if I can still do it, and if I still like it.
I booked plane tickets to Tokyo! After all the hub-bub of a few months ago, I decided to go to Japan anyways (Con: Possible Cancer, Pro: Possible Super Powers!). A quirk with the booking also means that we'll be spending 4 nights in Beijing, which is pretty exciting too! 3 days in Beijing is just the right amount of time to see all the major sights. We also plan on hiking the Great Wall, which is pretty neat since everyone I know has only seen the really touristy portion (Badaling). I've already started scoping out stylish yet functional footwear for the trip.
In anticipation for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt.2" I've been listening to "The Deathly Hallows" on booktape. It's been going well, but everytime I borrow an audio book from the library, there are missing chapters, or bits of chapters, and it's really frustrating. I listen a lot on the c-train and before I go to sleep. The copy I have is narrated by Jim Dale and he has a very deep british voice, and it's very good at lulling me to sleep... his Hermione voice is super awful though.

Can't you fill that void with me too? Can I not be in there? :)
Silly Jenna, of course you will help filling the void!
