Summer Solstice Update

Stuff has been happening, but I seem to forget to chronicle it all for you... So we fall back onto the list!

• Ruby is getting a grey beard and it makes me happy
• I Went to Vancouver last weekend with friends. For travelling with so many people it was a good trip. By the end however, my allergies made me pretty irritable and not so much fun to be around. Vancouver still holds it's spell over me, and I'll need to go back since I didn't eat at any foodcarts or go to Light house park. But on the plus side, I had my first Japadog, and bought clothes in Aberdeen Centre and they FIT! (take that ridiculously tiny asian girls!) Boy still wants to move there...
• I've become mildly obessed with this tumblr site Before&Afters. It's kind of inspiring and kind of grotesque. The majority of the girls pictured lost their weight over a long period of time (at least a few months) but sometimes the question of "how skinny is too skinny" comes up. 
• I found out that Black's in Market Mall will develop film, C-41 and E-6 (and medium format and B&W, but I don't shoot those) for less than Vistek. That being said, the guy on the phone said they won't cross process film, which is a bummer, but maybe if I ask nicely at the till or hide my slide film in a colour neg. cannister... hmmm. A Black's Bonus is they're open mall hours, so I can drop/pick-up my film at reasonable evening hours.

• After a lot of research, I finally gave up and decided to go to Tokyo this November after all. I went to Japan and all I got was this stupid cancer. Really a week in Tokyo isn't going to have any detrimental effects on my longterm health. So the plan is 5 days in Tokyo, one day trip out of Tokyo (probably Nikko), one day hanging out in Chelsey's town, Takasaki, and an one day in Kusatsu, a hotspring town. The best part of this... Mei and the Kittenbus will be screening!!!
  
• I just discovered what Kigurumi is... I want a Totoro one so bad!
  
• I made carnitas, and they were DELICIOUS! I used this recipe, and bought corn tortialls from here, along with a bottle of salsa. I made my own pico de gallo, which was too onion-y, but live and learn. I still have a stack of tortiallas in my freezer, so I predict enchiladas in my future.
• Boy bought a bike, and my sister bought an accordion. I feel like I should invest in a new hobby object... a new longboard perhaps?
• This weekend I'll be seeing Electric Six at the Gateway, I expect it to be fabulous.
