Feelin' Pretty Low

Been pretty sad this week. I don't know if it's hormones (fuck you Uterus and your need to shed your lining every month!), the fact that I haven't seen the sun in 6 days (S.A.D), or just me (moody moody Mandy). Either way, it's supposed to stop raining by tomorrow, so hopefully I'll feel a bit better and less mopey.

Things not helping my mood: Boy coming home super late, and super drunk, and falling asleep in the bathtup with the water running... best thing to wake up to at 5am!

One bright spot this week was I got my first roll of film back from the lab. I used Vistek this time, because someone on the Calgary Lomography website recommended it. Their hours are stupid (they close at 6pm), and it's pretty expensive, $16 for processing and scanning. They also didn't scan the first 6 photos on my roll of film. It's not a super huge deal, because I can scan them myself (when I get access to a photo scanner) but it's kinda annoying since I already paid for it. I'm going to try Robinsons in Inglewood next time, their hours are stupider (close at 5:30pm) but they're way closer to me. I'm also hoping that with a smaller shop, come smaller prices. I was super happy with my photos though. Not all of them turned out, but that's okay. I was especially happy with my Double Exposure experiments. I used slide film this time, and got it cross processed (processing with chemicals meant for another kind of film), so the colours are really bright and saturated. I also took most of my photos outdoors in bright light, so that probably made things better too. The next couple of rolls I'll be getting developed probably won't have the same superb results. I've been using up my stash of Blacks colour negative film (reg. film) because it's expired (only by a month, so nothing extreme), also Blacks film has processing included, and since I bought this film over 2 years ago, it's practically free! I have one more roll of Blacks to use up, and two more rolls of Slide film that came with the camera, and then I'll have to swim the murky waters of trying to find decently priced quality film... I expect I'll be trolling ebay.

I also made brownines w/ crushed up girl guide cookies. Mostly because I was tired of looking at the box of GG cookies on top of my fridge, and Boy asked me to bake him something. I used this recipe, and they're really good, just awfully unhealthy, but such is the way of brownies. I gave a bunch away, and I'm hoping Boy eats most of them today in a hungover stupor so I don't stuff my face when I get home.

I have a ridiculously busy weekend coming up, but hopefully the rain will stop and I can get some quality longboarding and lomo time in. I'm going to Lilac Fest on Sunday so I'm looking forward to taking lots of pictures of colourful things in the sun....and food on a stick. I'm such a sucker for food on a stick.
